Lactation Consultation at Home is:
1. A 90 minute lactation consultation at your earliest convenience in your home. Most appointments happen the same or next day.
2. 1 week of unlimited breastfeeding support via phone, video and text.
How do you know if you need a Lactation Consultation?
In my experience, if you fit one or more of these situations, you would be helped by a Lactation Consultation.
- You are having difficulty breastfeeding right now.
- You can't produce the amount of milk you need.
- You know yourself. You like every question answered.
Or, you may have one or more of these situations:
- You are going back to work and need to transition to pumping.
- You have a 3 or 6 month breastfeeding goal.
- You are conscious about your diet and fitness.
- You have a history of trauma, stress, anxiety or depression.
- You are constantly wondering if something, you or your baby does, is normal.
It's OK if you think your problems are not big enough, or you don't think you need help. Many moms feel just this way and benefit from the unlimited reassurance and guidance.
It's OK if YOU think it's a hopeless cause and that your situation is beyond help. I have seen hundreds of so-called hopeless cases turn completely around, and have happy endings because the mother received accurate, timely, personalized emotional support, breastfeeding information and parenting guidance.
To succeed at breastfeeding, here's what you need:
- Determination and the desire to breastfeed;
- Support and guidance from an expert, or community
- Patience to keep trying when things don't go as you expected;
- Tissues -- Long challenges can be very emotional!
If you need more information about your particular situation you can text or call me at (845) 750-4402.
- An initial 90 minute lactation consultation in your home
- Unlimited support via phone/text/video for 3 months
- Membership in Breastfeeding Café Facebook group
- A written care plan every step of the way
Any followup appointments vary depending on your particular needs. All followup consultations are at a special reduced rate.
During the initial lactation consultation, you can expect most of these:
- Get all the details about the difficulties you are experiencing
- Take a health and breastfeeding history
- Answer your questions
- Observe you and your baby breastfeeding
- Screen for nipple, breast, mouth or tongue problems
- Teach about feeding cues and how milk production works
- Coach you and your baby through latch, positioning and other comfort measures
- Teach pumping, hand expression techniques and milk storage guidelines
- Refer you to someone who can better help you with your problem, if need be
- Create a breastfeeding plan that will accommodate your lifestyle, your goals and your baby
Here are my Policies:
1. "On my honor, I will try, to do my best.": I will do my best to get breastfeeding right for you and your baby.
2. "Love The One You're With." I will bring respect, love and caring into every interaction.
3. "Laughing and Crying Policy." Yes, we will laugh and we will cry, of course, and sometimes together.
4. "Dress Code" PJ's are expected, showers are optional, hairdo?...not likely...(I will be showered, professionally dressed and hair tied back.) When you feed the baby, I will look at your breast to see how your baby latches on.
5. "The Shovel-It-In Policy" You and I don't like being force fed and neither does your baby. I don't do it.
6. "It Takes A Village Policy" There is no one lonelier than a new mom. I will get you connected with other breastfeeding moms.
7. "Personality Policy" I want breastfeeding to work for You and Your Baby, not for some "Gold Star" Type A++, Idealistic, Vision, that Someone...Somewhere... had Sometime...
Here are my standards:
We make sure your baby is fed. My first choice of food is your breast milk, either at your breast, expressed or from your stored supplies. My next choice would be donor milk from a milk bank or other donor. If that isn't possible, we will use formula.
I fully expect for you to be nursing pain free or almost pain free in 1 visit.*
You, your baby, your breastfeeding goals, opinions, culture, lifestyle, and family will be respected when we work together.
I have an evidence-based practice. What we do has been studied and shown to work and you don't get stuck with some folklore, bizarro habit.
You are the expert in your baby, (even if you don't feel like it, yet.) You set the pace and decide if you like something or don't.
Keep the baby calm. It is essential to be gentle with the baby and ease into breastfeeding rather than making lots of changes and upsetting your baby.
I follow current American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines and tracks weight, stools and wet diapers, so you are confident your baby is getting enough milk.
Your situation, problem, solution, and story are private, except where I, like other health care providers, have legal responsibilities mandated by law.
After you purchase this item, you will receive a text or call from Donna to schedule your appointment. Appointments can usually be scheduled the same or next day.

LactTube is a medical grade feeding tube, created with babies in mind and parents in heart. Our Lactation Aid helps parents to supplement their babies without interfering with breastfeeding. Parents can use this feeding tube along with a container for breastmilk or formula such as a bottle. Tube can be inserted in the corner of baby's mouth or used for finger-feeding. If parent chooses to use the LactTube at the breast, a medical tape can be helpful to keep the tubing in place. LactTube is compatible with all oral syringes (not an En-Fit conenction). Syringe is neccesary to use with LactTube for cleaning purposes (syringes sold separately). LactTube is designed to be used on short-term basis of no more than two weeks.
- Flexible, yet firm to prevent kinking
- Single hole, open tip
- 36 inches in length

- Unlimited breastfeeding support via phone, video and text.
How do you know if you need a Lactation Consultation + 1 year Breastfeeding Support Package?
In my experience, if you fit one or more of these situations, you would be helped by a yearlong package.
- You have a 12 month breastfeeding goal.
- You are having difficulty breastfeeding right now.
- You can't produce the amount of milk you need.
- You know yourself. You like every question answered.
Or, you may have one or more of these situations:
- You are constantly wondering if something, you or your baby does, is normal.
- You have a history of trauma, stress, anxiety or depression.
- You are going back to work and will need to transition to pumping.
- You are conscious about your diet and fitness.
It's OK if you think your problems are not big enough, or you don't think you need help. Many moms feel just this way and benefit from unlimited reassurance and guidance.
It's OK if YOU think it's a hopeless cause and that your situation is beyond help. I have seen hundreds of so-called hopeless cases turn completely around, and have happy endings because the mother received accurate, timely, personal emotional support, breastfeeding information and parenting guidance.
To succeed at breastfeeding, here's what you need:
- Determination and the desire to breastfeed;
- Support and guidance from an expert and a community
- Patience to keep trying when things don't go as you expected;
- Tissues -- Long challenges can be very emotional!
If you need more information about your particular situation you can text or call me at (845) 750-4402.
During the initial appointment Donna will help you and your baby learn to latch, position and go over comfort measures. Or teach you pumping, hand expression techniques, bottle feeding and milk storage guidelines.
Any followup appointments vary depending on your particular needs. All followup consultations are 30% off the current rate.
During the initial lactation consultation, you can expect most of these:
- Get all the details about the difficulties you are experiencing
- Take a health and breastfeeding history
- Answer your questions
- Observe you and your baby breastfeeding
- Screen for nipple, breast, mouth or tongue problems
- Teach about feeding cues and how milk production works
- Refer you to someone who can better help you with your problem, if need be
- Create a breastfeeding plan that will accommodate your lifestyle, your goals and your baby
Here are my Policies:
1. I will do my best to get breastfeeding right for you and your baby.
2. I will bring respect, love and caring into every interaction.
3. Yes, we will laugh and we will cry, of course, and sometimes together.
4. PJ's are expected, showers are optional, (I will be showered, professionally dressed and hair tied back.) When you feed the baby, I will look at your breast to see how your baby latches on.
5. You and I don't like being force fed and neither does your baby. I don't do it.
6. There is no one lonelier than a new mom. I will get you connected with other breastfeeding moms.
7. I want breastfeeding to work for You and Your Baby, not for some "Gold Star" Type A++, Idealistic, Vision, that Someone...Somewhere... had Sometime...
You are the expert in your baby.
Even if you don't feel like it, you know your baby better than anyone. You set the pace and decide if you like something or don't. You, your baby, your breastfeeding goals, opinions, culture, lifestyle, and family will be respected when we work together.
Keep the baby calm.
It is essential to be gentle with the baby and ease into breastfeeding rather than making lots of changes and upsetting your baby.
I follow current American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.
I track feeds, weight, stools and wet diapers, so you are confident your baby is getting enough milk. I have an evidence-based practice. What we do has been studied and shown to work and you won't get stuck with some folklore, bizarro habit.
Your situation, problem, solution, and story are private, except where I, like other health care providers, have legal responsibilities mandated by law.

Plan for your educational appointment between 20 and 32 weeks.

- Learn and practice Hand Expression. Hand expression helps mothers feel confident and is proven to increase milk production.
- Learn Colostrum Harvesting and get a free sterile Silicone Collector. If your baby needs supplementation, you can feed them your milk instead of formula.
- Discuss selecting the insurance pump that meets your needs.
- Unbox your pump, if you have one. Press all the buttons and learn what they do.
- Flange Fitting to get an idea of what size flange you will need when your milk comes in. You can get a perfect fit later.
Book your Prenatal Consult #2 for week 36, or after.
Prenatal Consult #3, #4, #5….
You like to ask questions, learn and know things. You like to plan and be prepared. You feel anxious and can’t sleep when something is unfinished. You are the gold medalists, trial lawyers, valedictorians, wedding planners, accountants, journalists, brain surgeons, etc.of the world.
A word to the unknowing: Babies are notorious for being uncontrollable. Breastfeeding is super hard for people who like to control things. This is a great time to let it go and meet your baby with a fresh outlook on your life as the mother of an uncontrollable human being.
Why do you need a Prenatal Lactation Consultation?
In my experience, pregnant moms and dads-to-be are more confident and prepared after prenatal education, because we live in a bottle feeding culture, and breastfeeding is wildly different than bottle feeding.
- You can learn the fundamentals of breastfeeding without interruption, while your brain is still working, and you are reasonably rested.
- You can learn the fundamentals of human baby behavior as compared it to other mammal babies such as whale calves, cow calves, fawns and joeys.
- You will come away with a vague idea of what to expect 😊 and support for when things get real..
-
You will have a trusted source of knowledge for your many questions and challenges (Donna and verified sources)
It's OK if you don't think you need help. Many parents felt just this way and benefitted from this guidance.
If you need more information about your particular situation, you can text or call Donna at (845) 750-4402.
During the prenatal lactation consultation, you can request any of these:

- Teach about baby feeding cues and milk production work together.
- Teach you about latch, positioning and other comfort measures
- Teach hand expression, milk storage guidelines, pumps and flange fit
- Refer you to someone who can better help you with your problem, if need be
- Create a breastfeeding plan that will accommodate your lifestyle, your goals and your baby
Here are my standards:
We make sure your baby is well fed. My first choice of food is your breast milk, either at your breast, expressed or from your stored supplies. My next choice would be donor milk from a milk bank or other donor. If that isn't possible, we will use formula.
We make sure you aren’t in pain forever and ever. Tenderness is normal. Toe-curling pain is not. Your nipples will not toughen up. You do not have to endure pain for some magic number of days-weeks-months.
I have a three-step process for pain free nursing. You will have access to additional resources. If you are in pain, you will move through it in days, not weeks.
I respect you, your baby, your breastfeeding goals, opinions, culture, lifestyle, and family.
I have an evidence-based practice. What we do has been studied and shown to work and you won't get stuck with some folklore, bizarro habit.
I am the expert in human milk feeding. You are the expert in your baby, (even if you don't feel like it, yet.) You set the pace and decide if you like something, or don't.
I prefer to keep babies calm. It is essential to be gentle with the baby and ease into breastfeeding rather than making lots of changes and upsetting your baby, and you.
I follow current American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines and track weight, stools and wet diapers, so you are confident your baby is getting enough milk.
I keep your situation, problem, solution, and story private. Please note that I, like all health care providers, have a responsibility to report as mandated by law.
I wear an N-95 mask at every appointment. I use HEPA air filtration and UV disinfection in my office so everyone has clean air to breathe.
After you purchase the consultation, you will receive a text or call from me, Donna, (845) 750-4402 to set a time. You can also call me at that number.
I see prenatal clients by appointment and mostly in my office. If you need a home visit, please purchase a Home Lactation Consultation or make a note in the checkout. Travel fees apply for home visits.
Lactation Consultation Packages:
1. An initial 90 minute lactation consultation at your earliest convenience. It can happen at your home, Donna's office, or virtually (telehealth.) Most initial appointments can be scheduled to take place within 1-3 days.
2. Follow-up consultations as selected.
Some home visits require an additional travel fee that will be charged at each appointment.
