Lactation consultations are one hour appointments structured to address any breastfeeding, infant feeding, breast pump, human milk feeding questions or concerns you have. 

Your appointment will be with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant - IBCLC- who is highly experienced in all kinds of mothers, babies, lactation concerns, and emotional states. 

Your birth and feeding experiences, questions and concerns are at the top of every appointment. We start wherever you are and work together to get you to your original goal. You are SO much more capable than you think you are. You are ABLE to accomplish more than you have been led to believe.

You deserve the comfort, closeness and bonding that breastfeeding promises. Many mothers have a rough start, even a hopeless start, and go on to happily breastfeed for as long as they want to. How breastfeeding looks and feels today is not any predictor of what will be happening tomorrow and in the coming months. 

I promise you can do so much better, and be so much happier than you think you can.

Also a Fact: Feeding your baby at the breast can start as some kind of painful, embarrassing nightmare. And, it doesn't mean you are a failure as a woman or a mom. It doesn't mean you are a bad mom for wanting to quit. Most likely it is because you just don't know how to do it!

Breastfeeding is a learned skill, and for many mother/baby combinations it can be challenging to learn and master.

A lactation consultant's job is to know a lot about babies, boobs, and new mothers and support you where you are at. We know it's normal for you to be curious, loving your baby and full of questions one minute, then choked up and tearfully explaining how you're failing as a mom in the next. We listen and give you breast feeding tips so you can improve.

IBCLCs are prepared for anything:

IBCLC lactation consultants are required to take 15 hours of lactation education every year and many study more hours than that. Lactation theory and practice is constantly evolving as mothers, scientists (often Mother Scientists) learn more about the amazing human breast and its function. 

We work with your medical team to protect breastfeeding and breastmilk feeding with education, evaluation, education and guidance. We are evidence-based providers and ready to back up our work with studies and Cochrane reviews.
